Q1: Team A is clearly outclassed and losing the game 4-53. In the second half Team B is still playing their starters and applying a full court press. What actions should be taken by the officials, if any, at this time?

Q2: There are very few people in the stands and one adult is loudly yelling and belittling one of the youth players. The player is clearly upset on the floor. No one has taken any action, so the official decides to eject the fan. Is the official correct?

Q3: During a JV game, Team A’s coach is being difficult and constantly questioning the official’s calls.  At one point the coach stated “keep calling like that and you’ll only be calling 5 o’clock games”. The official skips the coaches warning and issues a technical. Is the official correct?

A1: No rule to cite here. First and foremost, the officials must always remain professional in their actions and demeanor. Don't change facial expressions or appear agitated. There are 2 choices: 1) ignore the action or 2) start calling touch fouls (advantage/disadvantage as a rationale) until Team B stops pressing or the starters have fouled out. Has this happened to you? How did you handle it?

A2: The end probably justified the mean, but an official should not eject a fan. Please contact the site administer/league representative, an assigned police officer if present or lastly the coach of the team to control/dismiss the fan. Has this happened to you? How did you handle it?

A3: Absolutely.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
