2021 MIAA Registration now open

You must register with the MIAA to work MIAA games.

==========

Dear Game Official,

I first want to thank all of those officials who were able to work last year.  It was quite the year.  Here is to hoping that we all get back to offering interscholastic sports this coming fall.

Many fall officials will be registering beginning today for Fall 2021.  When you sign in, you will see a new database which you will find to be more straight forward and I believe easier to use.  To help with your efforts, you can use this link below to get to the ArbiterSports website:

Thank you for being a MIAA Game Official.

2020 cadet training

posted Sep 7, 2020, 3:44 PM by Terry Irish

Please help spread the word about cadet training this year. We've had lots of interest this year. Thanks.

------------------------------------------------------------

I believe you all know that the class and exam this year will be giving virtually through the IAABO University.  The online class is self paced and  the Education Committee will be holding weekly Zoom Q&A sessions starting Sept 15th  to answer any of your questions.   We’d rather do it in person but we think this is the best alternative to keep everyone safe right now.  We will be providing court training at a later date and place to be determined.

To get registered for the class please send me  your contact information (name, address, phone number and email address you want to use for the class) and a check for $150.00 made out to IAABO 175, 90 Lamarre Dr, Marlborough, MA  01752.

You have any questions please feel free to contact Terry and me.   We’ll do our best to help you any way we can.

Regards,

Nick Castellone

Cadet training 2020

posted Aug 26, 2020, 5:16 AM by Terry Irish

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, IAABO 175 has decided to forgo in-person training this year. Anyone interested in becoming a certified basketball official can do so on-line via IAABO University: https://courses-iaabo.org There is a $50 fee for this class.

Once you have registered with IAABO, please contact Terry Irish directly at terryirish12@gmail.com. The IAABO 175 Education committee will be holding weekly Q&A sessions starting on Tuesday, Sept 15th at 7pm to assist you along the way. An IAABO written exam will be held the first Monday in November. Once you have passed the on-line class, you will be assigned to our Board and we will discuss when & where a floor test will be administered.

Hi everyone,

There is much uncertainty about the upcoming cadet training schedule as well even having a basketball season. That will work itself out in the long run, so I need your help in recruiting new officials. If you know of anyone wanting to become a certified official, please direct them to our website (http://www.iaabo175.org/becoming-a-basketball-official). I will keep the link as current as possible. Enjoy the rest of the summer.

Basketball officiating camp from Apr 4-5, 2020

posted Mar 2, 2020, 1:38 PM by Terry Irish

Dear Officials:

Basketball officiating camp season will soon be upon us once again.  Attached is a brochure from the New England College Officials Camp to be held the University Sports Camp in Hanover, MA on April 4th and 5th.  This is a great opportunity for officials looking to advance to the prep school, JUCO or Division III level, as well as officials looking to be observed by local high school assigners.   The competition at the camp is a very high level of basketball and all games are officiated as Crew of 3.  This is one of the best camps in our region for officials to receive exposure, and I hope some of you will take advantage of the opportunity.  Attached is a brochure for your review.  For more information you can also visit www.necollegeofficiating.com or contact Larry Last via e-mail at lnlast@comcast.net   I hope to see some of you there.

Officials vs Cancer

posted Dec 13, 2019, 11:41 AM by Terry Irish

At a recent meeting, Tom Lunder explained that the 3-point shooting contest was a fund raiser with donations going to the American Cancer Society. He also requested that each official donate a game fee in memory of a family member or friend that you lost to cancer. The website is now up & running making it very easy to donate online:

Good morning,

We need your help. On Saturday, February 15th, Board #175 will be conducting a 3-point shooting contest for both Boys & Girls at Hopkinton HS to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Over the years, our Board has raised thousand$ for this organization in the name of our esteemed colleague Bill Miller. We break the day into two sessions; morning and afternoon. We need volunteers to help out with the afternoon session. Please contact Tom Lunder directly if you can donate some time: rjptlunder@gmail.com

For many of us, the high school basketball season opens tonight. Set the tone early! -) Have a great season and stay safe ...

Thank you,
